First off,  I am still so blown away by the fact that we are unified as one voice! Congratulations to all who have worked so hard for this!

Here are a few ideas.

- Organizational Identity:
I would love to see our professional organization join nearly every other major chiropractic organization in the world by officially endorsing the ACC Paradigm for Chiropractic.
http://www.chirocolleges.org/paradigm_scopet.html
Please consider endorsing this paradigm statement. It is an important step and will ultimately help to solidify our shared values and identity as chiropractors.

-Membership development: I have heard of non-profits bringing in expert/professional membership recruiters. They will go out and get members and get a fee for each member that they bring in (i.e. 50% of the first year dues). I would think, if you had the right person and trained them right , they could bring in 100-200 docs or more.
Another idea is to develop a clear and concise member recruitment package so that we have something that is neat and clean and can be presented to prospective members. Something that emphasizes unity and the recent gains we have made etc. (maybe even give a discount on dues to the recruiter/referrer?)

More organizational identity:

-I am a big fan of creating a vision statement. This is the "why" behind what we do.
example:

"Our Vision: A healthy world filled with healthy people. A world wherein chiropractors serve in a leadership role within the wellness-based healthcare system."

-I am not sure if you have a new mission/purpose statement? If not, the new misson/pupsoe statement must be well-thought-out. I am a big believer in being "purpose-driven" or "mission-driven". I you have a clear and concise purpose statement, then figuring out "what to do" is easy.
I am happy to help develop a new misssion/pupose statement, if this is something that is "in the works".

-I am also a big fan of having core values: How about something like these (they are from my own office)?

Core Values:
1 Naturalism -You can NOT improve on 'Nature's design'.
2 Holism (Wholism) - The whole can not be well unless all parts are well. No part can stay well if the whole is not well. You must look at 'the big picture'.

3 Conservatism - Non-drug/non-surgical/non-invasive/non-toxic and sustainable  approaches should always be tried first. "First, do no harm."

4 Neuralcentrism -The nervous system is the primary controller and coordinator of all bodily functions.

5 Structuralism -Structure dictates function, therefore the spine and entire human frame are important to health.

6  Professionalism - We accept our responsibilities as health-care professionals and strive for excellence and continuous improvement.

7 Leadership - We lead by example. We know that one person can make a difference in the lives (and health) of many.

That's all I got. Keep up the good work!

John great ideas. Our meeting on the 30th went very well and it focused on our mission statement and vision. We revised our mission statement at the start of this association but will rephrase it publicly again after this meeting. I like your idea about an outside agent recruiting members. Thanks again. dan miller

Dan: I am happy to help craft a mission statement. I would also make sure any new mission statement is grammatically-correct. The CAO mission statement and the recent OCA statement both had small grammar errors.

Congratulations in the meeting, is there a video of it? I know this is not common but in our school organization every meeting someone is taking up a video for future reference,

anyways the organizational Identity you had shared are awesome, well I will implement those when the right time for me comes up,

the vision is very inspiring, hope people will see the importance of a chiropractor.

Can the Board formulate a survey to give to all chiropractors and/or OCA members with regards to expanding the scope of practice of chiropractors here in Oregon based upon the New Mexico Chiropractic model and the recent legislation that was passed expanding the scope of practice in New Mexico? I understand naturopaths here in Oregon just had their scope of practice expanded, in particular with regard to the schedule of drugs they can now prescribe.
